In honor of #NationalSkilledTradesDay May 6, 2020, we have launched a series called I Love My Trade. We connected on social media with Joe Innocenti, owner of an HVAC company in Portland, Oregon. Here’s his story.
My name is Joe Innocenti and I own Multnomah Heating, Inc., a heating and air conditioning company for residential and commercial clients. I am from Portland, Oregon, and our company services the Portland Metro area.
I got into this trade because my father started this company in 1972. As soon as I was strong enough to pick up his tools, he had me go out on the job site and learn the trade from the ground up. I started as a gas piper and crawl space grunt! I went through the union as a sheet metal worker and was a foreman for a few jobs. I went through the ABC program for service. My real training happened through the school of hard knocks, learning the trade from onsite experience. When my father retired, I took over the company.
The reason I love this trade is that I get to solve problems every day and meet new people.
